Painting Style

What technique is used to create a "Miniature" painting?

All paintings are brush to canvas, using a technique called "watercolor gouache".  The paint is watercolor, but not transparant, allowing the artist to layer colors that don't bleed together as in traditional watercolor.

All images are painted at the original miniature size, in some cases as small as a postage stamp.  The artist uses a brush with just a few bristles, a tiny-sized paint pallete, and meticuously paints images by hand.

Because of the detail and very small size of the painting, our artist needs approximatley 10 days to paint each image.  So if you have three images in your frame, plan for 30 days of painting and assembly time after that.   Please plan your leadtime accordingly!
